Cuban funk sensation Cimafunk and his 9-piece band from Havana, La Tribu, join forces with AfroCuban legend Chucho Valdés on a reenvisioned version of Valdes’ classic Mambo Influenciado. The updated version of Mambo Influenciado was created as part of the Latin GRAMMYs® 25th anniversary celebration, in which The Latin Recording Academy® selected 5 iconic artists and paired them with emerging stars to create brand new arrangements of classic songs. This is the latest collaboration between Chucho, the 2018 Latin Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, and Cimafunk, who grew up listening to Chucho’s music and dreamt of meeting him.
“Pure talent and imagination, Cimafunk & La Tribu is a clear example of the advance of the new generations in Music…” said Chucho Valdés. “I felt privileged and proud that these young musicians gave me the honor of a project together where my piece ‘Mambo Influenciado’ that is a classic has transcended time.
