| In its first full year in business, Los Angeles-based entertainment company Saban Music Group (SMG) establishes itself as a presence at the 2020 Premios Juventud, boasting two performances and one award presentation.
Set to perform is SMG concept “KYEN?ES?” KYEN?ES? comes from the Spanish phrase “Quién es?” or “Who is it?” and encourages all generations to immerse themselves in eclectic musical genres via original interpretations, covers, and medleys of hit songs by iconic artists. The premiere project, “El Carnaval de Celia: a Tribute,” which honors the musical legacy of Celia Cruz with an innovative mashup of three of her greatest hits, became radio’s No. 1 most added on both the Latin Rhythm and Tropical charts within 48 hours of its release on July 16.
Also performing during the show, Grammy award-winning multi-platinum international superstar Pitbull will perform his uplifting anthem “I Believe That We Will Win” during the awards show. The song, which was created in collaboration with SMG, was made to inspire those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic to “face everything and rise.” It was nominated for the Quarentune award (Songs born during quarantine), one of two song nominations for Pitbull, whose hit “Me Quedaré Contigo” with Ne-Yo and featuring Lenier & El Micha was nominated for the traffic jam award (songs you listen to while stuck in traffic).
Breakout new SMG artist Marie Monti, whose debut single “Me Duele” dropped on July 3, will be a presenter at the awards show. Monti is a pop/ urban singer-songwriter, producer, and musician born and raised in Paris, France, but she has a passion for Latin music and writes Spanish lyrics for her original compositions. Her role in the Premios Juventud solidifies her status as a rising international talent.
The 17th edition of the Premios Juventud will take place on August 13, 2020, at 7 pm ET/6 CT at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, in front of a virtual audience. Ana Patricia Gámez, Francisca Lachapel, and Borja Voces will be hosting the show, celebrating the life and career of the beloved “Queen of Tex-Mex music” Selena 25 years after her death.
