passion of the best Salsa music ever made. La Mafia Del Guaguanco, formerly known as Orquesta La
Romana has been voted the best Latin band in the D.C. Metro area for ten consecutive years. The
band has a trajectory of over thirty years and a mission of always delivering excellent music with
power and precision for the dancer.
Edwin Ortiz was born and raised in East Harlem, New York City and is a product of the Johnny Colon
Music School. He has learned and taken the example of the best in Salsa music, like Ray Barretto,
Willie Colon and Larry Harlow. Keeping the tradition alive, he has surrounded himself with the best in
the business. Edwin Ortiz Y La Mafia Del Guaguanco is an ensemble of musicians who are masters at
their craft. The band has played alongside internationally known artists like Hector Tricoche, Adalberto
Santiago, Frankie Vazquez, Jerry Rivera, Lalo Rodriguez, Luisito Carrion, Junior Gonzalez, Cano
