Born in New York City in 1969, Andy was raised in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.  His passion for music was born at an early childhood stage. Andy’s first interest was dancing, when Hip-Hop was introduced to Puerto Rico. Later on in his high school days he found a greater interest in dancing and learned to Salsa dance.

Andy Rodriguez, known as “DJ Andy”, has performed as a disc jockey in major night clubs and venues in Puerto Rico, Washington, DC, New York City, and others throughout his career span.

He has opened up for numerous professional salsa artists and band, including: Papo Cocote y Su Montuno, Cano Estremera, Conjunto 344, Nacho Sanabria, La Sonora Ponceña, Willie Rosario, La Múlenze, Luisito Carrión, Puerto Rican Power, Don Perigñon, Adalberto Santiago, Luigi Texidor, Osvaldo Román, Pupy Santiago, Tito Rojas, Son de Madre, Polito Huertas, Roberto Roena, Tommy Olivencia, José Alberto “El Canario”, Camilo Azuquita, El Gran Combo, Spanish Harlem Orchestra, Soneros del Barrio, Jimmy Bosch, La Criolla, Primi Cruz, Cheo Feliciano, Rey Ruiz, Ismael Miranda, and many more.  Professional producer Tony Quiñones, who developed a very high interest in Andy, gave him the name of “El Mas Bailable” and introduced him to the next level.

In 2014, DJ Andy achieved his biggest accomplishment thus far as executive producer of his CD release “Goza Bailador. This CD was gifted with the collaboration of Puerto Rico’s top singers; Pichie Perez from La Sonora Ponceña and Mr. Rico Walker from Don Perigñon y La Puertorriqueña, along with amazing musicians Nelson GazuPequeño Johnny, Jose Jusino and composer Yova Rodriguez.

In 2016, Andy followed this accomplishment up with his next achievement, the release of his 2nd CD “DJ Andy Internacionalmente: El Mas Bailable” featuring another collaboration of the best musicians and vocalists.  Andy’s sophomore production includes the musical contributions of composer Charlie Donato on the original tune “Soy Guarachero” featuring the vocals of Puerto Rican vocalist RafyAndino of “La Mulenze”.  “Little Johnny” Rivero served as musical director for this production, which also includes the musical arranging talent of Francis Rodriguez.  The other original song on Andy’s second production is “Andy y Marcial” is composed by Yova Rodriguez, arranged by Julio Cesar Estrada and is musically directed by Francisco Requeña.  Featured on vocal is none other than Venezuelan soneroMarcial Isturiz.

A third installment of DJ Andy’s music series is in production phase and an anticipated release is set for 2017.

DJ Andy Rodriguez spreads his high level of passion for all salsa measures on a very comprehensive scale. His humbleness, honestly and love for the industry speaks for itself.  In May 2016, he will celebrate his 22nd anniversary as a Disc Jockey.
