ALEJANDRO SANZ RELEASES BACK IN THE CITY, THE SECOND SINGLE FROM HIS FORTHCOMING ALBUM #ELDISCO, IN COLLABORATION WITH NICKY JAM

Back in the City is the title of the second single from Alejandro Sanz’s highly anticipated album #ElDisco due in 2019. Alejandro Sanz has teamed up with superstar Nicky Jam for Back in the City. This unprecedented collaboration organically dispenses with preconceptions about genres and styles.

Loaded with energy and good vibes, Back in the City explores a universally relatable emotion. Sanz’s Back in the City talks about overcoming hardship and fighting to keep doors open as it tells the story of people who had to leave their home country and, inevitably, wish to return. There is nothing as powerful as returning to the neighborhood where you were raised.

Back in the City features Puerto Rican artist Nicky Jam, one of the pioneers of the Urban Latin movement around the world. Fusing pop beats, urban flairs, flamenco and salsa, Nicky Jam’s voice spontaneously couples with Sanz’s sound. Back in the City features a sample of Celia Cruz’s hit “Por Si Acaso No Regreso” recorded by the Queen of Salsa herself.

Like the leading single from #ElDiscoBack in the City has been produced by Julio Reyes Copello, who previously worked on the album La Música No Se Tocain 2012, Alfonso Pérez, a musician who has been touring with Sanz since 1997, and Alejandro Sanz himself. The album was recorded in Art House Studios and Mow Studios in Miami during March and October 2018, with Trevor Muzzy (Lady Gaga, JLo, Jason Derulo) as mixer and engineer, and mastered by Gene Grimaldi (Sting, Johnny Cash, Jason Derulo and Lady Gaga, among others)

Back in the City teases the innovative fusion of genres that Sanz has embraced in his forthcoming album #ElDisco. Alejandro Sanz boldly reveals where he is taking his new songs, as he constantly searches for new sounds and tempos to create a musical euphoria laced with his well-known trademarks.

Sanz presented the first advance from #ElDisco last November with No Tengo Nadaa heartfelt exercise in poetic tension. The single topped the charts simultaneously in 10 countries. The music video for No Tengo Nada, helmed by filmmaker Jaume de Laiguana, has raked up 20 million views to date.

Coinciding with the launch of No Tengo Nada, Alejandro Sanz announced dates for four arena concerts on the Spanish leg of #LaGira. Tickets went on sale a couple of weeks ago and sold out in record time for all 4 locations, Seville, Barcelona, Madrid and Elche.

Alejandro Sanz will spend four weeks in June 2019 touring #LaGira in Spain with a stunning arena show. Since he first performed on stage, Alejandro Sanz became part of the collective imagination. Surrounded by stellar musicians and prepared to offer memorable performances with the most innovative technical and visual elements, Alejandro Sanz’s #LaGira kicks off in June with four iconic arena dates.
