For generations, the voices of Sen Dog and Kemo the Blaxican have echoed through cars, barrios, clubs, festivals, smoke-filled rooms, city streets, and stages around the world — helping define the sound, spirit, and global rise of Latino Hip-Hop.
Through their work with Cypress Hill and Delinquent Habits, both artists helped break barriers for bilingual rap and opened doors for generations of Latino artists to follow. Their music carried the realities of the streets, the pride of culture, and the unmistakable energy of Los Angeles to audiences worldwide long before Latino Hip-Hop became a recognized global movement.
Now united as Negros De La Raza, the two respected pioneers continue that legacy with their new single “Jefe De Jefes” — arriving June 5 as the third release from the forthcoming 13-track album La Pura Neta (El Borracho y El Marijuano), set for worldwide release July10 through Dead Silence Records and distributed by Downtown Music.
Produced entirely by Chazz “Fiyastarta” Padilla, the album carries a bold cinematic sound that blends West Coast Hip-Hop, Latin soul, raw street energy, and modern sound design into something uniquely its own. Known for his work in both music and cinematic trailer production, Fiyastarta brings a larger-than-life atmosphere to the project while keeping it deeply rooted in culture, rhythm, and authenticity.
Across the entire album, DJ Peoplemover delivers elite turntablism, razor-sharp scratches, and championship-level cuts that inject the project with pure Hip-Hop DNA from beginning to end.
“The chemistry between Kemo and I has always been very good,we have known each other for a long time and working with him has always been a smooth process. Our personalities as artists have always meshed well.Since we started this project, I felt like we were both on the same page. It was important to represent both cultures because growing up in South L A and having experienced both cultures was very key to the artist that we have become and I wouldn’t change that for anything.” – Sen Dog
“Sen and I have worked together before, so there’s already a real chemistry and brotherhood there, but this album felt different because Chazz ‘Fiyastarta’ Padilla brought a sound that pushed us creatively into new territory. The whole project came together naturally and feels like something powerful for the culture — raw, authentic, and true to who we are.” – Kemo
Momentum around Negros De La Raza has continued to build with each release. Their breakout singles “Para Mi Gente” and “La Pura Neta” connected strongly with audiences across the United States, Mexico, and Latin America — with “Para Mi Gente” emerging as an anthem of cultural pride, unity, and lived experience. The impact was further amplified by the star-studded visual for “La Pura Neta,” featuring celebrated comedian Felipe Esparza and acclaimed actor Carlos Carrasco, expanding the group’s cultural reach and building momentum into the upcoming full album release.
“Jefe De Jefes” continues that momentum with the addition of Grammy & Latin Grammy Award-winning vocalist Melinda Salcido, whose powerful voice and deep musical roots bring soul, emotion, and timeless Latin influence to the record. Known for her versatility across mariachi, Latin fusion, pop, and live performance, Salcido also appears on the album standout “El Barrio.”
More than an album, La Pura Neta represents decades of experience, survival, brotherhood, and cultural contribution. It is the sound of artists who helped build the foundation of Latino Hip-Hop returning with purpose, hunger, and authenticity still fully intact — while continuing to push the culture forward.
“Jefe De Jefes” releases worldwide June 5 on all streaming platforms.
