On Tuesday, October 28, the most powerful hurricane ever to hit Jamaica swept across the island of just under three million people. In less than 24 hours, the storm carved a path of destruction from the southern parish of St. Elizabeth through the northern end of Trelawny, leaving behind immeasurable damage and widespread displacement across the country. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected in Jamaica, across the Caribbean, and throughout the diaspora.
In response, VP Music Group is coordinating with the Consulate General of Jamaica, New York, to support the delivery of relief items aiding recovery efforts. VP Records Retail, located at 170-19 Jamaica Ave, Queens, NY, is now one of several official donation drop-off locations and will be open from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday. The Government of Jamaica has also launched an official portal where contributions will provide food, shelter, medical aid, and other essential support to families affected by Hurricane Melissa.
