Helen Hernandez, presidenta de The Imagen Foundation anunció hoy a 144 nominados en 20 categorías de la trigésima quinta edición anual de los Imagen Awards. El show de los premios se ha expandido añadiendo tres nuevas categorías: Mejor Director en Televisión, Mejor Composición Musical para Cine y Televisión y Mejor Supervisión de Música para Cine y Televisión. Los Imagen Awards serán presentados de forma virtual el jueves 24 de septiembre a las 5:00 PM.

“La lista de nominados está muy lejos de la de 4 homenajeados de hace 35 años”, dijo Hernandez. “El nivel de creatividad y talento en nuestra comunidad es abundante y está ejemplificado en la lista de este año. Los jueces tuvieron un gran reto con el abrumador incremento de solicitudes de calidad para su consideración. Es claro que estamos dando algunos pasos, pero tenemos un largo camino para lograr una igualdad e inclusión significativa en la industria. Hasta entonces, Imagen está comprometida con el fin de elevar y perfilar talento Latinx frente y detrás de las cámaras. Felicitaciones a los nominados de este año.”

Con un incremento del 55% en solicitudes respecto a la ceremonia del año pasado, The Imagen Foundationcontinúa siendo el faro para el reconocimiento del talento Latinx como ninguna otra ceremonia de premios en Hollywood hasta la fecha. Los numerosos años de esfuerzo continuo para traer a la luz y celebrar la diversidad en la industria del entretenimiento ha posicionado a la Fundación como líder en distinguir actores, estudios, ejecutivos y muchos más por su excepcional desempeño y logros en cine y la televisión.

Los nominados a los Imagen Awards son seleccionados por un panel independiente de ejecutivos de la industria del entretenimiento y por líderes de la comunidad Latina.

Sobre los Imagen Awards

Los Imagen Awards fueron  creados en 1985 por sugerencia del veterano productor de televisión Norman Lear para fomentar y reconocer las representaciones positivas de los Latinos en los medios. Después, ya como The Imagen Foundation, expandió sus programas e iniciativas para aumentar su misión con el fin de servir como puente entre la comunidad Latina y la industria del entretenimiento al dar acceso, capacitación y recursos para Latinos en la industria, así como para aquellos que quisieran hacer una carrera en el entretenimiento.
